Group Chief Executive

Group Chair Recruitment

Welcome to the South Central and South East Ambulance Group – putting people first.

Group Chief Executive

Dear Candidate,

We are delighted that you are considering joining us at this pivotal moment in our history. The creation of the South Central and South East Ambulance Group marks a bold and exciting step forward for urgent and emergency care in England.

By bringing together the expertise and commitment of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), we have a unique opportunity to build a stronger, more resilient, and more innovative service for the communities we serve.

Our ambition is clear: to deliver exceptional care for every patient, every time. Through collaboration, we will accelerate progress in digital innovation, clinical development, and workforce transformation—while preserving the local identity and responsiveness that matter so much to our patients and staff. This is not just about organisational change; it is about shaping the future of urgent and emergency care across the South East and influencing the national conversation on integrated care.

As Group Chief Executive, you will play a central role in realising this vision. We are looking for a leader who combines strategic insight with compassion, resilience, and the ability to inspire confidence across complex systems. You will champion collaboration, foster an inclusive culture, and ensure that our strategy translates into real improvements in patient outcomes and staff experience.

If you share our passion for the NHS, for the people who work within it, and for those who rely on it every day, we warmly invite you to explore this opportunity further. Together, we can create a service that sets new standards for excellence and innovation.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to lead this exciting journey.

Group Chair

Dear Candidate,

We’re creating England’s first ambulance group by bringing together South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). Why? Because we believe that by working more closely, we can deliver better care for patients and greater support for our colleagues.

This isn’t just about systems – it’s about people. Already, collaboration is helping patients get help faster, like sharing call answering capacity so no one waits longer than they should. By combining our strengths, we can respond to growing demand, invest in innovation, and create new opportunities for our teams to learn and thrive.

Our aim is simple: safe, high-quality care for every patient, every time – and a workplace where every colleague feels valued and supported.

Both organisations will stay local and legally separate, but by working as one group we can share resources, standardise clinical models, and improve care across the South East. The first step is a single leadership structure with a Group Chair and Chief Executive to guide us forward.

We’re looking for an exceptional  Group Chair – someone who cares deeply about our communities and our people. A leader who listens, inspires, and brings resilience and empathy to every decision. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of ambulance services, driving innovation and integration that will make a real difference to lives across the region.

If you have experience as a Non-Executive Director, ideally as a Chair, in a complex, highly regulated organisation – and you share our passion for the NHS and the people it serves – we’d love to hear from you.

Best wishes
